Scripture:
Ephesians 5:17 “So then do not be foolish; but understand what the will of the Lord is.” (NASB)
Observation:
When I walked on site, I couldn't believe my eyes. I had hired a few young men to help finish up a construction project, but when I got to the site, they had foolishly begun to try and do it themselves; not having any idea what was really needed to do the job. They began to do things that didn't need to be done. They had not waited for the full instructions and had caused a lot of unnecessary damage to the structure. Today's verse speaks of not being foolish but understanding what the will of the Lord is. I know the young men had good intentions, but if they had waited to hear exactly what needed to be done, things would have worked out better.
Sometimes in life, we try to rush ahead of what God has in store for us maybe even thinking of ourselves as knowing it all. The reality is that when we step out in front of God, foolish things can happen. It's best to understand what the Lord's Will is before we begin to run ahead of Him and then look foolish. I've had my share of foolish moments, how about you? I'd rather do HIS Will than mine any day.
Application:
1) Think about what you just read.
2) Ask the Holy Spirit for clarity and insight.
3) Share this with someone who would benefit from reading it.
4) Make sure others see Jesus in YOU today.
