Scripture:
Hebrews 12:10 “For they disciplined us for a short time as seemed best to them, but He disciplines us for our good, so that we may share His holiness.” (NASB)
Observation:
For years I was not the father I wanted to be. I knew all the right things to do but found them out of reach. I would yell and yell loudly. I thank God that He kept me from ever laying a hand on my children in my fits of anger, but the yelling was worse. I believe that it takes longer to heal that kind of hurt. I thank God He showed me the light. I thank my wife for having the strength to take a stand and my mom for loving me enough to take the hurt in helping me.
Today, I live for Jesus, and find myself really loving my children. That means times that discipline is required, but it is done in love to teach them God’s ways; so that they too can love. To think that God gives second chances - thank God or else I would be out of the game. How about you? Have you been the best son or daughter, the best mom or dad? How about the best child of the living God?
Application:
1) Think about what you just read.
2) Ask the Holy Spirit for clarity and insight.
3) Share this with someone who would benefit from reading it.
4) Make sure others see Jesus in YOU today.
