Scripture:
Romans 15:1-2 – “Now we who are strong ought to bear the weaknesses of those without strength and not just please ourselves. Each of us is to please his neighbor for his good, to his edification.” (NASB)
Observation:
Some liked Superman, others liked Batman, but I had my own hero right at home. Growing up I would hear other boys talk about their heroes - some liked sports players, others liked comic book heroes, but I had a hero deep in my heart. He is the type of man who stood tall 6'3", lifted weights, was good looking, and had strength beyond belief; he could ripe a phone book in half, lift just about anything, and although he was stronger than most, there was a gentleness about him . He was willing to help those not as strong - like today's reading shares about bearing the weaknesses of those without strength and pleasing your neighbor for their own good.
I have seen my hero risk his life for another, take the time to listen to those hurting, help a complete stranger all because he knows Christ. You see, my hero back then and today is my dad. If I can be half the godly man that he is! He doesn't only read God's word, he lives it!! I wonder if people can say that about us. Are we just reading His word or are we living it?
Application:
1) Think about what you just read.
2) Ask the Holy Spirit for clarity and insight.
3) Share this with someone who would benefit from reading it.
4) Make sure others see Jesus in YOU today.
