John 16:13

Scripture:

John 16:13 (NASB) “But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come.”

Observation:

"I wouldn't do it that way.” As a young man, I was always trying something new. One of my favorite things was to work on my car. Whether I was fixing a broken part or adding something new, I enjoyed it. One day while getting ready to climb underneath it, my dad came along and said, "I wouldn't do it that way." He saw the danger in how I was trying to get the job done while I was unaware of the potential risk to my life.

Today's verse speaks about the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Truth. He will guide us in all truth. He will speak and disclose to us what God the Father has shared with Him. The wisdom of a man who has walked this life is immeasurable and something not to be taken for granted just like the wisdom and truth the Holy Spirit speaks into our lives. Are we listening? I had to change the way I was doing the job on the car so that I could use the wisdom of my father. Are we putting to use the wisdom of the Holy Spirit in the things that we encounter in our life? Maybe we should before it's too late.

Application:

1) Think about what you just read.

2) Ask the Holy Spirit for clarity and insight.

3) Share this with someone who would benefit from reading it.

4) Make sure others see Jesus in YOU today.
