Colossians 3:19

Scripture:

Colossians 3:19 (NASB) “Husbands, love your wives and do not be embittered against them.”

Observation:

You never know what you’re missing until it’s gone or until you have a chance to get it back. For many years working on the fire dept. meant spending two nights a week away from home. The shift would last from 5 pm until 8 am. Of course, we would do it again the next night which meant time not sleeping at home. I guess after a while you just get into a routine where you never really think about not being there. You don’t think about the nights she has to go to bed alone with no one there to protect her or the children from the things that go bump in the night. Now that I am retired, I spend each night with her being able to hold her and have those quiet moments.

I never realized how important spending the nights with her meant, and I thank God I got the opportunity to realize the importance of them before it was too late. Many times, we need to find the answers to things in our life. Answers to the important questions that may come up. Some answers come when we realize that life is supposed to be more about someone else than ourselves. What answers do you need to learn about the one you love?

Application:

1) Think about what you just read.

2) Ask the Holy Spirit for clarity and insight.

3) Share this with someone who would benefit from reading it.

4) Make sure others see Jesus in YOU today.
