Isaiah 43:2

Scripture:

Isaiah 43:2 (ESV) “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you.”

Observation:

While battling a warehouse fire, the fire chief ordered me and my crew out due to imminent danger of roof collapse. But a wall of flame stood between us and safety! My officer ordered us to follow him as we made our way to safety. But I was so focused on the wall of flame before us that I needed to exercise titanic faith and trust in my officer to follow where he led. Today's verse speaks of the promises of God. When it comes to walking through raging waters or walking thru fire, we need to believe that we are going to come out the other side in one piece. Sometimes we need to believe in and trust those who lead us, and when it comes to the things of God, we need to believe in His promises that we shall not become overwhelmed or consumed. But do we believe God's Word is Truth? Take time today to speak with Him, meditate on His promises, and ask Him to show His faithfulness in your situation.

Application:

  • Personal Application: Continue spending time with the Lord daily. Sow righteousness and reap the fruit of God's unfailing love.
  • Family Devotional: Read this chapter to your family. Ask them if anything spoke to them as you read. Talk about their answers and show them that one important aspect of this chapter is that we must continue to spend time with the Lord and keep our hearts focused on His plans and purposes. Pray for them.
