Deuteronomy 12:32

Scripture:

Deuteronomy 12:32 “Everything that I command you, you shall be careful to do. You shall not add to it or take from it.” (ESV)

Observation:

I sent an email but forgot something important. It was like mailing a letter with just the envelope, or making a call and not talking when the other person answered. I forgot the attachment! Today's verse speaks about God's Word and not adding to it or taking from it. The person who received the email had no idea what I was talking about without the attachment. When we say we are followers of Christ, we need to make sure that we have the attachment of His Word in our life. Without it, people just won't understand the message. How do we ensure we are doing everything that He has commanded? We attach and align our life with His Word. Do our actions reflect His Word, or are we just empty letters or emails with no spiritual attachments?

Application:

  • Personal Application: Continue spending time with the Lord daily. Sow righteousness and reap the fruit of God's unfailing love.

  • Family Devotional: Read this chapter to your family. Ask them if anything spoke to them as you read. Talk about their answers and show them that one important aspect of this chapter is that we must continue to spend time with the Lord and keep our hearts focused on His plans and purposes. Pray for them.
