Read Nehemiah 9:22-23 – Moreover You gave them kingdoms and nations, and divided them into districts. So they took possession of the land of Sihon, the land of the king of Heshbon, and the land of Og king of Bashan. You also multiplied their children as the stars of heaven, and brought them into the land which You had told their fathers to go in and possess. (NKJV)
As Nehemiah prays he reflects on what God had done for His people. It is evident in his prayer that Nehemiah believes God keeps His promises. God had promised His people this land and God fulfilled His promise. True prayer is based upon the belief that God will keep His promises and honor His Word. It is not our goodness or our perfect prayers that causes God to respond. God responds to our prayers because He keeps His promises. That is why we can pray with boldness anytime and anywhere.
