Read 1 Thessalonians 2:13 – And we also thank God continually because, when you received the word of God, which you heard from us, you accepted it not as a human word, but as it actually is, the word of God, which is indeed at work in you who believe.
“The Scriptures, both the Old and New Testaments, are verbally inspired of God and are the revelation of God to man, the infallible, authoritative rule of faith and conduct.”
Your pastor preaches using the scriptures Sunday after Sunday. Is the sermon based on the beliefs of your pastor? Is it based on the rules of your denomination? Is it the policy of your Church? Hopefully it is based purely on the Word of God found in those scriptures. We should not adhere our life to the teachings of any source other than the Bible. Listen to your pastor, but evaluate those teachings by your Bible. Keep those things that are from the Bible and shelve the things that are philosophical or opinion. Live and conduct your life from the teachings of the scripture! No man and no organization is above the scripture. If you ever have to choose, always decide upon the scripture for direction.
