The Prayer Life of a Working Man

Read Nehemiah 9:17 – But they hardened their necks, and in their rebellion they appointed a leader to return to their bondage. But You are God, ready to pardon, gracious and merciful, slow to anger, abundant in kindness, and did not forsake them. (NKJV)

Nehemiah provides an interesting observation in his prayer. God’s people rebelled and even appointed another leader to take them back to bondage. These people deliberately chose to turn away from God and go back to their old life. In spite of this blatant rebellion against God, God was still merciful, gracious and ready to pardon. What an awesome God we serve. Even if I have rebelled against God, He will forgive me when I turn to Him. If God can forgive those who turn away from Him, surely I can forgive those who wrong me.
