Psalm 147:3

Scripture:

Psalm 147:3  “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” (NASB)

Observation:

“Big Boys Don’t Cry” used to be a popular saying. But the reality is that most men refuse to cry or display their emotions publicly. Privately, however, they struggle with loneliness, broken hearts and wounds of life gone wrong. As a first responder in the fire department, I have spent many times bandaging injuries cause by life. Broken arms, bullet holes, injuries cause by falling off ladders, or car accidents and with each of them, the bandages are only temporary until the ambulance gets them to the hospital for further care.

Today’s verse speaks to us of a bandage that is permanent, no need of further care. The one who does the bandaging of broken hearts and injuries of life is God Himself. Don’t let your “machoness” keep you being a “big boy that won’t cry.” Admitting you are lonely and hurting is the first step to recovery. Cry out to God. Allow Him to hear about your injury and ask Him to heal you. He wants to. God can also bring other “first responders” into your life to help bandage your wounds.

Application:

1) Think about what you just read.

2) Ask the Holy Spirit for clarity and insight.

3) Share this with someone who would benefit from reading it.

4) Make sure others see Jesus in YOU today.
