John 14:18

Scripture:

John 14:18  “I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.” (NASB)

Observation:

As the men’s group began the conversation about how God loves us, one man began to question that love. He was raised in a fatherless home and had no idea of what a true father’s love is, so his relationship with God was strained at best. Today’s verse says that God will not leave us alone. He will come to us. Trying to get a man to understand a father’s love when he was abandoned by his earthly father is a difficult challenge, but not impossible. We explained to this man the difference between a father’s love for his children and God’s love for all of us. We shared that even though our earthly fathers may leave us, or abandon us, our Heavenly Father never will. Some men suffer from loneliness because of abandonment issues, as today’s verse states. But God’s promise is that He will always come to us!
