Matthew 25:44

Scripture:

Matthew 25:44  “Then they themselves also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry, or thirsty, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not take care of You?’” (NASB)

Observation:

He came back for a few years, but I never saw him again. I was a young boy at the time. He obviously was hurt because he wasn't acting like he should. So I picked him up, brought him home, and for the next few weeks fed him and nurtured his wounds. He was a young sparrow who had injured his wing. He didn't put up a fight as I took care of him during those weeks, and when he was strong enough, I let him go and watched him fly away.

Today's verse speaks of a question that we may have to answer one day. It's about taking care of those hungry, thirsty, naked or sick, in prison or simply a stranger. I wonder how we will answer when asked what we did. It was a year later that I noticed him on the railing of our porch. The sparrow had returned as if to say thank you. He spent a few days there and for the next few years came back. Each time I watched him fly away, I felt good inside. When we take care of those who are hurting in some way, we can watch them fly away with a newness of life. That's if we take the time to help. Who are we going to help today?
