John 15:11

Scripture:

John 15:11  “These things I have spoken to you so that My joy may be in you, and that your joy may be made full.” (NASB)

Observation:

“Saturday we’ll go.” Those words brought so much joy to a young boy’s heart. My dad told us, his sons, that on Saturday we were going fishing! What joy! I looked forward to fishing with my dad and brothers. I couldn’t wait! Joy is a small word, but when we have it, it means so much. To have that kind of joy in our lives - that despite the circumstances around us, we have a feeling that overrides all the despair. Today’s verse speaks of a joy and that joy may be made full in Christ by the things He has spoken to us. Too often that’s not the case, and we fail along the way trying to “get” joy or “buy” joy. Joy comes from a knowledge of things greater than us.

We are nothing but sinners, and He chose to love us and send His Only Begotten Son to die for us so that we may have life and life abundantly. You see, one day we will never die. We will live with our Heavenly Father forever and dance on streets that are golden. There will be no more pain or sorrow but joy! We can have a taste of that today by just letting go and letting God. Like a little boy fishing with his dad, we too can have that kind of joy with our Heavenly Father. Let’s go fishing for the joy of the Lord!
