1 Corinthians 11:28

Scripture:

1 Corinthians 11:28  “But a man examine himself, and in so doing he is to eat of the bread and drink of the cup.” (NASB)

Observation:

Where was it? It should have been there! For most guys who have ever replaced a hot water tank, you know the job goes easier if there is a union placed in the piping. It is a plumbing fixture where you can join two pieces of pipe together and having one makes the job so much easier. In replacing a tank for a customer, I searched for the union to remove the old tank. Sadly, there was no union present.

Today's scripture speaks of examining ourselves before we take communion, the sharing of the bread and fruit of the vine. I got to thinking how "communion" has the common union that we all need - that we all have deep inside whether we want to admit it or not. It's the Spirit of our Living God, the Holy Spirit! With all the turmoil in the world, I wonder if maybe, just maybe, we can look deep within each other and find that common union of Jesus Christ. Trust me, it will make the job of living life so much easier. Are we searching for our "common union" with each other?

Application:

1) Think about what you just read.

2) Ask the Holy Spirit for clarity and insight.

3) Share this with someone who would benefit from reading it.

4) Make sure others see Jesus in YOU today.
