Isaiah 64:6

Scripture:

Isaiah 64:6  “For all of us have become like one who is unclean, And all our righteous deeds are like a filthy garment; And all of us wither like a leaf, And our iniquities, like the wind, take us away.” (NASB)

Observation:

I didn't like Mondays growing up. It wasn’t because it was the start of a new week; it was garbage day at our house. I needed to clean out the garbage and make sure the can was at the curb. Today's verse is one we probably don't like because it talks about being unclean. How all our good deeds are just like filthy garments, and our iniquities or sin take us away. Taking out the garbage took me away from playing with my friends or doing something I enjoyed.

Our sin takes us away from the presence of God. He can't have anything to do with sin so we must ask for forgiveness. You know about "junk mail,” right? You know, the stuff you toss in the garbage while going through the important mail. Well, like taking out the garbage or sorting the mail, we need to examine our lives sometimes. So, take out the stuff that is junk. Nobody likes the job, but it needs to be done. It will bring us closer to God and who doesn't need that!
