Scripture:
Isaiah 59:2 “But your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, And your sins have hidden His face from you so that He does not hear.” (NASB)
Observation:
I can still recall his words to me. "I am disappointed in you!" I was caught in a lie about something that I shouldn't have done. When the truth came out, my dad uttered those words to me. The guilt of lying was bad enough, but those words echoed through the chambers of my heart.
Today's verse speaks about our iniquities, our sin, and how we are separated from God because of them. The relationship with my dad wasn't ruined, but it definitely took a hit. Things seemed different for a while. Quieter and somehow ‘less’ than it used to be. Not until I came and sincerely apologized to him did things improve again. It's that way with God. He knows that we all sin and fall short, but He's waiting for us to repent, to apologize, and come clean. What do you need to repent of? Don’t let your relationship with God become ‘less.’
Application:
1) Think about what you just read.
2) Ask the Holy Spirit for clarity and insight.
3) Share this with someone who would benefit from reading it.
4) Make sure others see Jesus in YOU today.
