Ephesians 4:29

Scripture:

Ephesians 4:29  “Let no unwholesome word proceed from your mouth, but only such a word as is good for edification according to the need of the moment, so that it will give grace to those who hear.” (NASB)

Observation:

I thank God for texting. I know it sounds funny, but when you've lost a majority of your hearing like I have, texting is awesome. What I miss most from my hearing loss is being able to change the tone of music. It's just not the same when you can't hear verbal tones . We can't hear the tone of what a messenger is texting. A simple text can be interrupted in a wrong tone of understanding and lead to trouble.

Today's verse speaks of not letting any unwholesome word proceed from our mouth but only those for edification and lifting each other up. Maybe we should apply that to our texting as well? Remember that the tone (or spirit) of our text is just as important as the message itself. If your tone might possibly be misunderstood, the message should be rewritten. Remember that words have powerful meaning. Printed and spoken. Use them to glorify and honor God today.

Application:

1) Think about what you just read.

2) Ask the Holy Spirit for clarity and insight.

3) Share this with someone who would benefit from reading it.

4) Make sure others see Jesus in YOU today.
