1 Corinthians 9:12

Scripture:

1 Corinthians 9:12  “If others share the right over you, do we not more? Nevertheless, we did not use this right, but we endure all things so that we will cause no hindrance to the gospel of Christ.” (NASB)

Observation:

Some years ago, when I was a still a lieutenant in the Fire Department, I was sent to bomb school in Socorro, New Mexico. I was proud that I was a fireman. I wore a shirt so everyone could see that I was a member of that department. On the plane ride home, a man sitting next to me noticed the shirt, told me he was a fireman too, and we started sharing stories. Along the flight, our conversations turned to other interests in our lives. I had started taking Bible classes at that point and began to share with him about this new desire within me. He shared how he had heard of Jesus, but didn’t really know Him.

The rest of the flight, I shared more and more about Christ and His love for this man. If it wasn’t for the common ground of firefighting, we probably never would have spoken to each other. I believe the Holy Spirit uses many things in our lives to share the message of Christ. We need to be open to HIS workings and not so much about our workings. I pray that we are open to the Spirit and follow His leading today.

Application:

1) Think about what you just read.

2) Ask the Holy Spirit for clarity and insight.

3) Share this with someone who would benefit from reading it.

4) Make sure others see Jesus in YOU today.
