Romans 14:1

Scripture:

Romans 14:1 (NASB) “Now accept the one who is weak in faith, but not for the purpose of passing judgment on his opinions.”

Observation:

He just couldn't understand the concept. While teaching a rookie on my crew in the fire dept. about stepping off the aerial ladder and on to the building, he began to question if the ladder was going to move from under him. I had to assure him time and again that it would be fine, and he could step off and on to the roof safely. Todays' verse speaks about accepting those who's faith is weak and not for the purpose of passing judgment on their opinions or fears. When we got back the fire house, one of the other crew members asked me what took us so long getting to the roof. I could have thrown the rookie under the bus and made fun of his lack of faith or I could say that we were talking about safety. I did the latter of the two. I remember a time when I was fresh on the job and wasn't quite sure of a few things. The old timers on the job accepted me and taught me without getting the ridicule that can sometimes come to a rookie. Maybe we all need to remember when we had weak faith before we go about passing judgment on others.

Application:

1) Think about what you just read.

2) Ask the Holy Spirit for clarity and insight.

3) Share this with someone who would benefit from reading it.

4) Make sure others see Jesus in YOU today.
