Scripture:
Psalms 81:6 (NASB) “I relieved his shoulder of the burden; His hands were freed from the basket.”
Observation:
When I ran around trying to fit everything in one day, I would often miss the most important time of the day - time spent in His presence and time spent in His word. I am getting better but still have a ways to go. I like to spend time with my dad, my earthly father. We both enjoy fishing and many times we have agreed to go fishing one day a week. When he calls to see which day we are going, I have the all too familiar line, “I have too much to do this week, Dad, maybe next week.”
The song “Cat’s In The Cradle” by Harry Chapin comes to mind where the singer talks about his life and the growing up of his son. His son always asks to spending time with him. Then when the son is grown, he is just like his father - not able to spend time together because of the pressures of life. The father finally realizes that his son has grown up to be just like him - no time for anything but the problems and pressures of the day. When was the last time we took the day and spent it with loved ones just being silly or enjoying a quiet time? When was the last time we spent more than a few minutes in prayer asking God for this and that instead of seeking His face just to praise Him? Our time on this earth is a gift from God. How are we spending it?
