Scripture:
Psalm 90:12 “So teach us to number our days, That we may present to You a heart of wisdom.” (NASB)
Observation:
He was 96. I watched him from the bottom of the ladder as he reroofed his garage. Fred worked in the construction field all his life. As a small boy, he would often be found at his father’s side at the job site learning the skills needed to build things. At 96, he was still going strong. I asked him if I could help. His reply, “As long as I have breath in my lungs, I’ll keep working.”
Today’s verse speaks of teaching us to number our days so that we may have a heart of wisdom. Coming to the realization that we all get older each day, things change. Our strength weakens; our bodies ache the next morning, but that should never allow us to stop sharing Christ. There is no retirement when it comes to sharing Jesus Christ. We should be like Fred. As long as there is breath within me, I will serve the Lord. How are we serving Christ and not using our age as an excuse to sit back?
Application:
1) Think about what you just read.
2) Ask the Holy Spirit for clarity and insight.
3) Share this with someone who would benefit from reading it.
4) Make sure others see Jesus in YOU today.
