Scripture:
Philippians 1:10 “…so that you may approve the things that are excellent, in order to be sincere and blameless until the day of Christ.” (NASB)
Observation:
Many kinds of animals and fish have a particular season in which they are allowed to be hunted. There are limits as to how many of a certain kind of fish you can keep for the day. All of these rules and regulations are there for a reason - to keep the fish and game for the next generation, and generations to come. Sometimes, I see a man take more than his limit going to his car to dump a bucket of fish and then go back out to get more. It is crossing the line, plain and simple. It is wrong.
I wonder if we possibly cross the line when it comes to our holiness. Do we take advantage of the limits that God has set as His standards? Do we find ourselves saying (figuratively), “Well we are only taking them because they are biting now. Many times I have been skunked out.” We can always find a reason for doing what’s wrong, but there is only one reason to do what is right. “Be ye holy, for I am holy,” says our God. The question is: Are we being sincere and blameless until the day of Christ like today’s verse shares?
Application:
1) Think about what you just read.
2) Ask the Holy Spirit for clarity and insight.
3) Share this with someone who would benefit from reading it.
4) Make sure others see Jesus in YOU today.
