Luke 14:28

Scripture:

Luke 14:28  "For which one of you, when he wants to build a tower, does not first sit down and calculate the cost to see if he has enough to complete it?" (NASB)

Observation:

There was much planning to do if we wanted the business to be successful! When I started my business, I had spent months getting things in order. Making sure I had a DBA (Doing Business As) making sure I had records of customers, pay slips, the list was endless.

Today's verse speaks to us about making sure we count the cost to be sure we have enough to complete the project! I remember speaking to my dad concerning his business, how he ran it, how he did this and that; and then the question came up about paying the tax to the local government. I remember his words distinctly. "The Bible says, ‘render to Caesar what is Caesars, and to God what is God’s’!” Probably the best business advice I got from him. I know too many business owners who try and cheat when it comes to paying taxes. Somehow, they think they will get away with it, but they can run but not hide. It's better to be truthful and up front than to have your reputation tarnished because of greed! Calculating the proper taxes is calculating the cost of doing business. So, the question is, “What are we hiding?"
