Malachi 2:15

Scripture:

Malachi 2:15 (ESV) “Did he not make them one, with a portion of the Spirit in their union? And what was the one God was seeking? Godly offspring. So, guard yourselves in your spirit, and let none of you be faithless to the wife of your youth.”

Observation:

My daughter and I took some time yesterday and watched a little TV. We noticed how much “sexual content” there was. It seemed like every commercial, every show, had some form of sexual innuendo. It was terrible. I mean really bad. We talked about it. She was 20 at the time and studying psychology. She understood the conversation I was having with her, that Satan uses every chance he can to try and pry our eyes away from Jesus and from our wives into sin. That’s what it is. but so often we hear, ‘I am only looking. I would never act on it.’ Well Jesus told us that if we even think it in our heads, we are guilty of it in our hearts—adultery. We need to see the truth that most of us fall short when it comes to loving our spouses. Also, we are not raising our daughters to respect their bodies, or our sons to resist the sexual urges they have and come up with a plan of abstinence. It is only going to get worse unless we as believers stand firm on His truth. We need to live for Christ 100% not just when it’s easy and we must have a plan of attack against the enemy when the temptation comes…and OH it will come.

Application:

  • Personal Application: Continue spending time with the Lord daily. Sow righteousness and reap the fruit of God's unfailing love.
  • Family Devotional: Read this chapter to your family. Ask them if anything spoke to them as you read. Talk about their answers and show them that one important aspect of this chapter is that we must continue to spend time with the Lord and keep our hearts focused on His plans and purposes. Pray for them.
