Isaiah 40:29

Scripture:

Isaiah 40:29 “He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might he increases strength.” (ESV)

Observation:

It's truly amazing, almost unbelievable. I am sure we have all heard the stories where people find incredible strength in a time of crisis. Stories like the woman who picked up the back end of a car to get it off her child, or the man who held that car up till help arrived. Today's verse shares how God will increase our strength. There are times in a man's life when he faces things that will cause him to lose strength and question God. They cause a man to cry out. The best person to cry out to is God. When we read His Word, do we truly believe it, or do we think they were for another time and place? The answer will be found only when we put our faith and trust in Him. Sure, it may be easier said than done, but think of the lady who lifted the car. She had faith and believed, and it was accomplished. The same is true for our God. Do we believe?

Application:

  • Personal Application: Continue spending time with the Lord daily. Sow righteousness and reap the fruit of God's unfailing love.

  • Family Devotional: Read this chapter to your family. Ask them if anything spoke to them as you read. Talk about their answers and show them that one important aspect of this chapter is that we must continue to spend time with the Lord and keep our hearts focused on His plans and purposes. Pray for them.
