1 Peter 4:10

Scripture:
1 Peter 4:10 - As each one has received a special gift, employ it in serving one another as good stewards of the manifold grace of God  (NASB).
Observation:
It was a simple request; bring what you can to help out the family that had suffered a loss due to a recent fire. Their home and belongings were gone. So a request went out for help. Men showed up, and I was humbled to be one who came to help. I brought my tools and knowledge, but there were others... others who were more skilled in this area and that. Then more came with food, clothing, and toys for the children. The entire project lasted weeks as this family in need began to rebuild their life. As I walked away that final day, when the house was rebuilt and a home rebuilt too, I thought to myself, now this is what church should look like, men and women helping others, helping those in need. I am pretty sure it is what Jesus would have done. That is why it's important for us to help like today's scripture shares... to use our gifts to serve one another. The question remains, are we using our gifts to serve our fellow man?
Application:
  • Personal Application: Continue spending time with the Lord daily. Sow righteousness and reap the fruit of God's unfailing love.
  • Family Devotional: Read this chapter to your family. Ask them if anything spoke to them as you read. Talk about their answers and show them that one important aspect of this chapter is that we continue to spend time with the Lord and keep our hearts focused on His plans and purposes. Pray for them.
