11 Then you went over the Jordan and came to Jericho. And the men of Jericho fought against you—also the Amorites, the Perizzites, the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Girgashites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites. But I delivered them into your hand. 12 I sent the hornet before you which drove them out from before you, also the two kings of the Amorites, but not with your sword or with your bow. 13 I have given you a land for which you did not labor, and cities which you did not build, and you dwell in them; you eat of the vineyards and olive groves which you did not plant.’
What has God done in your life? How has He stepped in and provided things unexpected—things you didn’t achieve for yourself?
People often speak of the “self-made” man. He’s the guy who pulled himself out of difficult circumstances, who worked long hours to become what others dream of. He’s the guy many admire because of what he’s done. It’s an impressive story, but there’s an even greater man to emulate.
Rather than be self-made, focus your thoughts on being God-made. After all, your life has been surrounded by God’s presence and He has already blessed you in ways you couldn’t have achieved yourself. Celebrate that goodness and learn to trust God for the greatest things in your life. Live by His path and you’ll see that what He can do is much greater than anything you can do for yourself.
And when you look back on how far you’ve come, celebrate the thousands of fingerprints God has left on the life “you’ve” built.
