Read Luke 10:8-9 –“… Whatever city you enter, and they receive you, eat such things as are set before you. And heal the sick there, and say to them, 'The kingdom of God has come near to you.'” (NKJV)
Jesus sent His followers to minister to the cities in Israel. If the city received them they were to inform them that the Kingdom of God has come. As we pray for the city, ask God to open the hearts of people that they might be receptive to not only the message but the messenger. Ask God to help people receive us as we present the message of the gospel to them. Obviously, we cannot expect people to respond to us appropriately if we do not approach them appropriately. When we share Christ with people we should do it with the attitude that we are doing them a favor. We should not share Christ just so our church will grow. We share Christ so that a person’s life can be changed and they can experience the joy of following Jesus.
