Read Exodus 11:1-3 – And the Lord said to Moses, “I will bring one more plague on Pharaoh and on Egypt. Afterward he will let you go from here. When he lets you go, he will surely drive you out of here altogether. Speak now in the hearing of the people, and let every man ask from his neighbor and every woman from her neighbor, articles of silver and articles of gold.” And the Lordgave the people favor in the sight of the Egyptians. Moreover the man Moses was very great in the land of Egypt, in the sight of Pharaoh’s servants and in the sight of the people. (NKJV)
What an interesting moment—slaves asking their masters for gold. Okay, maybe the Israelites were slaves to Pharaoh and the Egyptian government, but now the tables have truly turned. The Egyptians are suffering greatly under the plagues sent by Israel’s God. These pagan people were likely desperate to either gain favor with the slaves or get them out of town as quickly as possible before more calamity descended. Moses and his people look a lot different now than they did a few weeks before. And so will we. Someday Jesus will bring His promised Kingdom into reality and reality will change. Those who have served Him may not have been revered or respected before, but tables will turn. Those who have failed to submit their lives to Him will suffer great judgment, while those who have chosen to bow before Him will now be seen in a new light. Today’s rejections are temporary. Christ’s acceptance is forever.
