Read Joshua 5:1 - So it was, when all the kings of the Amorites who were on the west side of the Jordan, and all the kings of the Canaanites who were by the sea, heard that the Lord had dried up the waters of the Jordan from before the children of Israel until we had crossed over, that their heart melted; and there was no spirit in them any longer because of the children of Israel. (NKJV)
Who’s afraid of our God? Is there anything about our lives that points to God’s greatness? Now those we encounter every day aren’t exactly battle-enemies on our “next-to-be-conquered” list. But do they see something in us that points to our God? Do they expect their encounters with us to be different than the other moments of their lives? It’s impressive to see Joshua’s generation affecting their contemporaries in such a way. And what confidence these words must have given Joshua when the wicked nations roundabout could see God’s presence with them. Surely our response would be to want His presence more and more in our lives. Use today as a first opportunity to begin seeking that closeness in your life.
