Thursdays with Joshua

Read Joshua 4:1-3 – And it came to pass, when all the people had completely crossed over the Jordan, that the Lord spoke to Joshua, saying: “Take for yourselves twelve men from the people, one man from every tribe, and command them, saying, ‘Take for yourselves twelve stones from here, out of the midst of the Jordan, from the place where the priests’ feet stood firm. You shall carry them over with you and leave them in the lodging place where you lodge tonight.’” (NKJV)

What did you carry out of your most recent victory? Too often we move quickly from our great moments, sometimes even forgetting what God has already done in our lives. We can find ourselves approaching God with a “what-have-you-done-for-me-lately” kind of attitude. Such a spirit seems ungrateful and misses a big purpose in God helping us. Your memory is a great tool for spiritual growth. When you remember what God has done, you find yourself praising God and ready to trust Him with your next moment of uncertainty. Remembering will remind you that God has proven faithful and you know He will be with you when the waters ahead become rough. So make a habit of carrying something from every river God helps you cross. Your faith will grow and you’ll find yourself praising God more and more.
