Wednesdays with Moses

Read Exodus 5:6-9 – So the same day Pharaoh commanded the taskmasters of the people and their officers, saying, “You shall no longer give the people straw to make brick as before. Let them go and gather straw for themselves. And you shall lay on them the quota of bricks which they made before. You shall not reduce it. For they are idle; therefore they cry out, saying, ‘Let us go and sacrifice to our God.’ Let more work be laid on the men, that they may labor in it, and let them not regard false words.” (NKJV)

Sometimes we are tempted to think that doing God’s will means finding the path of least resistance. When things work easily, we believe God’s path has been found, and when things aren’t working out, we start thinking we need to go another way. But nothing in the Bible tells us that God’s path is the easiest one. In fact, one could more easily make a biblical case for God’s path being among the most challenging. So what’s the point? Don’t assume that struggle isn’t a part of God’s perfect plan. He guides us by His voice more than by our circumstances. Spend time everyday listening to God so you’ll be able to discern His direction when you’re not sure what to do. Jesus said that His sheep know His voice. Be one of His sheep and He will help you find His perfect direction in every decision.
