Thursdays with Joshua

Read Deuteronomy 31:7-8 – Then Moses called Joshua and said to him in the sight of all Israel, “Be strong and of good courage, for you must go with this people to the land which the Lord has sworn to their fathers to give them, and you shall cause them to inherit it. And the Lord, He is the One who goes before you. He will be with you, He will not leave you nor forsake you; do not fear nor be dismayed.” (NKJV)

We easily say that God has a plan for every life but do we truly believe that? Do we really think that somewhere in the books of Heaven, God has laid out a specific plan for us? The biblical evidence says a resounding YES! Here, Moses proclaims God’s plan for Joshua, and the younger man stands ready for this challenge. Moses also tells Joshua to “be strong and of good courage”—something I think he would say to us as we think of God’s plan for our lives. Here’s something else to consider: If God has a plan for your life, doesn’t it make sense to make every effort to discover what that plan might be? If He’s God, and He has a plan, could anything be more important than discovering that plan?
