The Prayer Life of a Working Man

Read Nehemiah 9:18-19 – Even when they made a molded calf for themselves, and said, “This is your god that brought you up out of Egypt,” and worked great provocations, Yet in Your manifold mercies You did not forsake them in the wilderness. The pillar of the cloud did not depart from them by day, to lead them on the road; nor the pillar of fire by night, to show them light, and the way they should go. (NKJV)

As Nehemiah prayed he was very aware of a biblical principle we should never forget when we pray. God is at work in people’s lives even when they have blatantly turned away from Him. The Israelites were worshipping idols but God did not turn away from them. When you pray for people, keep in focus that God is working in their lives even though it may not be evident at the present; so don’t quit praying for them. God is working in them to show them the light of His way. Keep praying—nothing is impossible with God.
