Questions from a Wayward Man

Read Ecclesiastes 2:12-14 – Then I turned my thoughts to consider wisdom, and also madness and folly. What more can the king's successor do than what has already been done? I saw that wisdom is better than folly, just as light is better than darkness. The wise man has eyes in his head, while the fool walks in the darkness; but I came to realize that the same fate overtakes them both.

The older a person gets he finds that what he worked so hard to improve only ends up as more of the same. One could get cynical and remove himself from trying to make a difference. But the real way to make a difference in life is to do so in the lives of others. Changing a landscape, organization, government or movement sounds great when you are young but many times after all the work they fall back into the same ruts they carved out. Change a life and you have the possibility of eventually creating lasting change. Jesus did not try to change Rome. He changed men who in turn changed the world.
