Ezekiel 36:26

Scripture:

Ezekiel 36:26 “Moreover, I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; and I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.” (NASB)

Observation:

I finally understood what they meant. Have you ever heard the term "rock hard?" I was drilling out concrete to put a hand rail up for a customer, when I hit a rock. I was using a hammer drill: yet I could not get the drill bit to break through the rock that was in the concrete. Usually the drill bit would go right through the concrete, but with the stone mixed in, the job was twice as hard. Today's verse speaks of God replacing our heart of stone with a heart of flesh, and I couldn't help but think that sometimes our hearts are stone when it comes to somethings - very hard, almost impossible to break through. Maybe we were hurt in the past, or we don't feel as if anyone cares. Maybe life just doesn't seem fair. Well, God cares. He cares so much for us that in a few days, we will celebrate just how much He loves us. Just imagine offering one of your children to show how much you love someone. God did that for us, for YOU! He gave His Only Son, so that you and I would know His love. That should break through any heart of stone if we truly believe it. Do you believe that God loves you that much?

Application:

  • Personal Application: Continue spending time with the Lord daily. Sow righteousness and reap the fruit of God's unfailing love.
  • Family Devotional: Read this chapter to your family. Ask them if anything spoke to them as you read. Talk about their answers and show them that one important aspect of this chapter is that we must continue to spend time with the Lord and keep our hearts focused on His plans and purposes. Pray for them.
