Read 1 Corinthians 12:28 – And God has placed in the church first of all apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then workers of miracles, then gifts of healing, of helping, of guidance, and of different kinds of tongues.
The baptism of believers in the Holy Spirit is witnessed by the initial physical sign of speaking with other tongues as the Spirit of God gives them utterance.
The Holy Spirit's operation is very diverse and extremely effective in ministering to people who experience Him. The supernatural expressions of God will change the heart of the unbeliever. His enabling is one of the most incredible expressions of His power in and through man. Do we fully comprehend all that God does through the gift of tongues? I think it would be impossible to understand all of His workings. But our lack of understanding should not give us reason to hinder or ignore His operation. Most of us do not understand electricity, but we use it. The same would be true with many natural things around us. Should we not yield to the workings of the Holy Spirit so that lives can be impacted by Him?
