Matthew 1:22–23

Scripture:

Matthew 1:22–23 “All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had spoken by the prophet: ‘Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel’” (which means, God with us). (ESV)

Observation:

The birth of Christ is evidence that God keeps His promises. The Messiah was mentioned in 300 prophecies of the Old Testament that were ALL fulfilled in Jesus. The accuracies of those prophecies are staggering. 100% of His promises were kept.

Herod killed babies (Matthew 2:13-18) but found it impossible to annihilate the plan that God had enacted hundreds of years before His time.

God’s promises are immune to the ravages of time and circumstance. There are no accidents with God. He makes promises, and He keeps them. The faithfulness of God is incontestable. At Christmas, I am reminded of the Faithfulness of God. His faithfulness is His gift to you.

Application:

Personal: Take some time to reflect on the faithfulness of God. What can you learn about His faithfulness?

Family: Tell your family a time you experienced God’s faithfulness. Allow each family member to share a story of God’s faithfulness. Pray for each family member that God would prove His faithfulness to them.
