1 Peter 5:10

Scripture:

1 Peter 5:10  “After you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace, who called you to His eternal glory in Christ, will Himself perfect, confirm, strengthen and establish you.” (NASB)

Observation:

The call came at 3 am, and I knew it wasn’t going to be good! One of the guys from our small men’s group, who had been struggling with an addiction, was having a rough time of it. He had remained pure but the temptation to sin was getting stronger by the day. He needed help. Today is Day 3 of Victory Over Addiction and the verse speaks to us about suffering for a little while until “the God of all grace” will perfect, confirm, strength and establish us! What wonderful promises from God. Of course, we might not like the first part of the verse where it mentions suffering for a little while.

God can take away our addiction in one total healing, but sometimes the path of freedom and victory is one where there will be suffering. Having a support group of godly men to call upon when the struggles become intense is part of God’s plan to help us. Having men pray with and for us during our struggles will help get us through the rough patches of addiction.

Application:

1) Think about what you just read.

2) Ask the Holy Spirit for clarity and insight.

3) Share this with someone who would benefit from reading it.

4) Make sure others see Jesus in YOU today.
