Psalm 127:2

Scripture:

Psalm 127:2  “It is vain for you to rise up early, To retire late, To eat the bread of painful labors; For He gives to His beloved even in his sleep.” (NASB)

Observation:

I worked 120 hours a week going from one job to another. I thought I was giving love to my family. I have been down this road – where it was all about work and money. Funny thing though, the people that mattered most to me (my wife and children) who I thought I was loving, were the ones being hurt.

I thought that the more money I made, the more I was loving them. I wasn’t loving them; I was hurting them by taking myself out of the picture. Think about it. What would you rather have: wealth or just one person who cares for and loves you? Some of us prefer the money. I pray that we all choose to follow God’s direction for our lives and not make it about work, but about love. If we take one thing from today’s verse, let it be that we need to take time away from work to re-examine our priorities.

Application:

1) Think about what you just read.

2) Ask the Holy Spirit for clarity and insight.

3) Share this with someone who would benefit from reading it.

4) Make sure others see Jesus in YOU today.
