2 Timothy 3:5

Scripture:

2 Timothy 3:5  "…holding to a form of godliness, although they have denied its power; avoid such men as these." (NASB)

Observation:

Everything looked just right, but when the beam fell we realized that the supports were not as good as we initially thought. While doing some remodeling at a home, a few of us started removing the sheetrock from the walls. After examining the structure, we made a hasty decision based upon how the support beams looked and not if they were up to code.

Today's verse is a hard one. It speaks of seeing a form of godliness, and yet they deny it's power – God's power. We are to avoid such men as these. We learned the hard way not to judge a support beam based upon appearance. Although they looked the part, they did not hold up the weight of the main beam. The sad reality in life is that we will see men that look the part of being godly, and yet, they will fall short and will deny the power of God. Pray for these men. Pray that the power of God becomes real to them. A time of self-reflection is wise. Check to see if you not only look the part but live Him as well.
