Ephesians 3:3-4

Scripture:

Ephesians 3:3-4 (NASB) “…that by revelation there was made known to me the mystery, as I wrote before in brief. By referring to this, when you read you can understand my insight into the mystery of Christ…”

Observation:

While working at an office furniture store assembling the desks and file cabinets for customers, we would unpack everything and then follow the directions to put the pieces together. After a few years of doing it, the first thing we used to do was throw out the directions. Come on! I had built hundreds of desks and file cabinets over the years. One day, as the desk we had just built was in the final stage before delivery, I got a call from a coworker. They said, “Hey, this drawer doesn’t work.”

I immediately went over, and sure enough, something was wrong. The more we looked, the more we were confused.  So, I went back to the garbage can and found the direction we had tossed away. There in big red letters the manufacturer had made a change in how they put the drawers together. In our rush to find a shortcut, we missed it. We had to go back and fix all the work we did. I learned an important lesson that day about directions and shortcuts. Do the job RIGHT the first time, and it will save time and energy later. Shortcuts are keeping us from learning all we can about God and His Word.

Application:

1) Think about what you just read.

2) Ask the Holy Spirit for clarity and insight.

3) Share this with someone who would benefit from reading it.

4) Make sure others see Jesus in YOU today.
