Mark 9:23

Scripture:

Mark 9:23 “And Jesus said to him, ‘If you can! All things are possible for one who believes.’” (ESV)

Observation:

It will never work, but I believed it could. While doing some work for a customer, the helper that came along said there was no way we could do it. I said, "I believe we can!" So we began to tackle the project. Little by little the job got closer to completion. Today's verse shares what Jesus spoke -- that all things are possible with God, for one who believes. Sometimes we allow deafening doubt to distract from what we truly believe. Maybe we have let things go, believing the lie that it couldn't be done. But if we believe, truly believe, then all things should be possible for us -- especially when it comes to the things of the Lord. Instead of believing we can't, maybe if we believed we can through Him, we will. What is God asking of you to do where you need to believe to see it completed?

Application:

  • Personal Application: Continue spending time with the Lord daily. Sow righteousness and reap the fruit of God's unfailing love.
  • Family Devotional: Read this chapter to your family. Ask them if anything spoke to them as you read. Talk about their answers and show them that one important aspect of this chapter is that we must continue to spend time with the Lord and keep our hearts focused on His plans and purposes. Pray for them.
