Psalms 119:105

Scripture:

Psalms 119:105 “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” (NASB)

Observation:

It kept flickering. I knew something was wrong. The light kept going on and off depending on how I touched the switch. As I pulled the light off the electrical box, I noticed that the ground screw was loose causing a bad connection. Today's verse speaks of God's Word as a lamp to our feet and a light to our path. If we aren't grounded to His Word, our path will not be brightly lit. Being men of God's Word means being grounded by it. It means the study of it, the deep meditation upon it, and taking it with us to light our path. Are we grounded properly so that we can work to the best of our ability? Maybe we need to work on our connection to Christ. That way we can shine brightly in a darkened world.

Application:

  • Personal Application: Continue spending time with the Lord daily. Sow righteousness and reap the fruit of God's unfailing love.
  • Family Devotional: Read this chapter to your family. Ask them if anything spoke to them as you read. Talk about their answers and show them that one important aspect of this chapter is that we must continue to spend time with the Lord and keep our hearts focused on His plans and purposes. Pray for them.
