Psalm 31:14

 Scripture:

Psalm 31:14 “But as for me, I trust in You, O Lord, I say, ‘You are my God.’” (ESV)

Observation:

We just didn’t get there on time. During one of the nights at the firehouse, we responded to a house fire where someone died. I struggled to find the reason why. Sometimes it’s during the difficult times of testing that we really need to trust in Him and allow His will to be done. It may be painful. There may be tears, but do we really think our God, who loved us so much He gave us His Son, would want to hurt us in some way? He is a God of love, and He loves each of us despite our shortcomings. I had to accept that He is my God and learn to trust Him with all the details of my life – the good, the bad, the ugly, and during those times when I just don’t understand. Do you trust Him only when things go right, or do you trust Him in ALL circumstances?

Application:

  • Personal Application: Continue spending time with the Lord daily. Sow righteousness and reap the fruit of God's unfailing love.
  • Family Devotional: Read this chapter to your family. Ask them if anything spoke to them as you read. Talk about their answers and show them that one important aspect of this chapter is that we must continue to spend time with the Lord and keep our hearts focused on His plans and purposes. Pray for them.
