Scripture:
Hebrews 3:13 “But encourage one another day after day, as long as it is still called ‘Today,’ so that none of you will be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin.”
Observation:
I probably send out about 15 a day, but I know I can send more. No, it's not letters or invitations; I send out about 15 text messages a day to my family, friends, a fellow brother who may be hurting, or someone who God has placed upon my heart. Nothing long, just a glad word or two to encourage them in their walk on this earth. Today's verse speaks of encouraging one another day-after-day. The verse ends with the reason why. So that we will not be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin. Sounds like a pretty good reason to me. How about you? Sometimes life struggles and situations can get us down, down to the point that our decisions may just cross the line in our walk with Christ, but getting a friendly "hello" or "I'm praying for you" can make the difference in a person's life, their thought pattern, their decisions. It makes them feel as if they are not alone. So why not use our phones for something else besides playing solitaire and send a friendly "Hello, I'm praying for ya!" message? You just might put a smile on their face and help them avoid a bad decision.
Application:
- Personal Application: Continue spending time with the Lord daily. Sow righteousness and reap the fruit of God's unfailing love.
- Family Devotional: Read this chapter to your family. Ask them if anything spoke to them as you read. Talk about their answers and show them that one important aspect of this chapter is that we must continue to spend time with the Lord and keep our hearts focused on His plans and purposes. Pray for them.
