Psalms 27:13-14

Scripture:
Psalms 27:13-14 - I would have despaired unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord In the land of the living. Wait for the Lord; Be strong and let your heart take courage; Yes, wait for the Lord (NASB).
Observation:
I never felt the pain of the waiting, but I see it in their eyes. As a young boy, I was blessed with an athletic ability. When the teams began to pick sides, I usually went in the first group, but there stood the ones wanting to play that always seemed to get picked last. It may not seem like a big deal as to when you are picked, but as a young boy it told you just where you stood in the group. After a few times of watching the faces of those picked last, I made a promise to myself that if I was ever named captain, I would make my picks a little different. The despair in waiting can be overwhelming. So we can take comfort from today's scripture as we wait for an unanswered prayer, a phone call from a loved one, a misdeed to be forgiven. We can find courage as we wait, in the Lord.
Application:
  • Personal Application: Continue spending time with the Lord daily. Sow righteousness and reap the fruit of God's unfailing love.
  • Family Devotional: Read this chapter to your family. Ask them if anything spoke to them as you read. Talk about their answers and show them that one important aspect of this chapter is that we must continue to spend time with the Lord and keep our hearts focused on His plans and purposes. Pray for them.
