2 Corinthians 10:5

Scripture:
2 Corinthians 10:5 - We are destroying speculations and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ (NASB).
Observation:
The reality is that God made women beautiful to men. The question that arises is when we look at women, do we see the outer beauty or the inner beauty and which is more important? For me personally, the struggle to stay a man of purity comes from a few different places. I have read many books where I learned the technique of bouncing away from something that I knew would entice me. Another technique came from the realization that every woman is someone's mother, sister, or daughter. How would I like it if someone looked at my mother, sister, or daughters with lust in their heart? Being a father of three daughters has opened my eyes to a lot. When we are walking somewhere and my daughters are in front of me, I can see the "fellas" trying to take a good look (if you know what I mean). Therefore, it strengthens my desire to stay pure and to encourage them to dress appropriately at all times. What tools/techniques are you using to take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ?
Application:
  • Personal Application: Continue spending time with the Lord daily. Sow righteousness and reap the fruit of God's unfailing love.
  • Family Devotional: Read this chapter to your family. Ask them if anything spoke to them as you read. Talk about their answers and show them that one important aspect of this chapter is that we continue to spend time with the Lord and keep our hearts focused on His plans and purposes. Pray for them.
