Praying for the City

“Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria and preached Christ to them. 6 And the multitudes with one accord heeded the things spoken by Philip, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did. 7 For unclean spirits, crying with a loud voice, came out of many who were possessed; and many who were paralyzed and lame were healed. 8 And there was great joy in that city.”  NKJV

Philip preached Christ, and there was great joy in the city.  It is important to keep in focus that the ultimate objective of the church and followers of Christ is seeing lives transformed by the power of Christ.  Lives that are transformed by Christ will be lives that are full of joy.  Our cities are made up of people that seek joy from a lot of different things.  We know that true joy is only found in Christ.  As we pray for our cities let’s pray that the proclamation of Jesus will result in changed lives.  Remember that no person or no city is beyond the power of Christ to be changed.  Ask God to change your city.
